photos from week 351 - Taron Eyemax

Lincoln Victorian Prison Chapel
Two consecutive frames taken in the chapel at the Victorian prison in Lincoln. I included the sprocket holes in the composition, as they echo the divisions between the prisoners on the seats.

This was taken at a wide aperture, but the rangefinder has allowed for accurate focus.

Strelitzia House
I used expired Ilford HP5 black and white film this week, this one was taken with a red filter to darken the sky.

Week 351 - Taron Eyemax

Taron Eyemax
The Taron Camera Co. Ltd. emerged in post-war Japan out of a company that made shutters for other manufacturers, such as Mamiya and Fujica. In the mid 1950s they launched their own range of cameras, producing a number of distinctive designs, before closing in the late 1960s. The Eyemax is a well specified enthusiast's camera, boasting a coupled range-finder and a built in, coupled Selenium exposure meter. The lens on mine is an f1.8 45mm Taronar, though some were sold with an f2.8 version.

I managed a mirror self portrait with this simple camera, albeit underexposed.

squashes
There is no focusing on this camera, and no guidance about optimum distance, but I knew I was pushing my luck with this subject, which was less than 1m away, and hence out of focus!

Week 350 - Vivitar EZ Big View

Vivitar EZ Big View
This is an ultra basic point and shoot with a large clear viewfinder. I loaded it with Agfa Vista ISO 200 film from Poundland.

Inderhavnsbroen
The yellow in the bottom half of the photo is not a technical glitch, it's tinted glass in this new bridge over the harbour in Copenhagen.

Week 349 - Kodak Mini-Instamatic S40

Kodak Mini-Instamatic S40
This neat little 110 camera has an f5.6 lens and an electronic exposure system. I don't think the electronics do anything, but the aperture can be adjusted by sliding a lever with weather symbol scale. I loaded it with Lomography Tiger film and took it on a trip to Copenhagen.

prize onions
Another one taken with the 75mm Prioplan, this shows some prize winning onions at the Sheffield Show.

photo from week 348 - Exakta RTL1000

reflected self-portrait with Exakta RTL1000 camera and moustachioed hat
My weekly mirror self-portrait is always easier when I'm using an SLR, as wider apertures can be used without having to worry too much about the focus.

wing mirror
The film is Ilford FP4 plus, developed in Rodinal 1:50 for 15 mins at 20 degrees.
The lens is a pre-war 75mm f1.9 Primoplan.

Week 348 - Exakta RTL1000

Exakta RTL1000
"The Exakta RTL1000 was produced from 1969 to 1973. It was made after the Exakta business was acquired by Pentacon, the East German company responsible for the Praktica line of cameras, and there is a lot of Praktica DNA in this camera. In fact some might say that this is really just a Praktica with the M42 screw lens mount replaced with an Exakta bayonet lens mount. As such most Exakta collectors don’t really regard this as a proper candidate for their Exakta collections!"
